In 2018, the concept of Gonzo Whiskey grew out of Owl Farm in Aspen, Colorado, when Anita Thompson, Hunter S. Thompson’s wife and steward of his estate, brought together a trusted group of industry leaders and members of Hunter’s inner circle.
With a deep reverence for Hunter’s legacy and whiskey culture, they rallied around a shared vision to bring this wild dream to life. Over five years, the team carefully conceived every detail, blending Kentucky’s rich bourbon heritage, where Hunter was born, with the untamed spirit of his Colorado home.
Gonzo Whiskey
Our whiskey is crafted with precision and aged with intent, created with our proprietary mash bills each with distinct character. We carry the Gonzo flame between the rugged peaks of Aspen and the whiskey-soaked soil of Kentucky. This is whiskey as Dr. Gonzo would have wanted it—uncompromising and fearless.

Nearly 55 years after its publication, our inaugural series pays tribute to Hunter’s most famous work,“Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.”
This collection includes a range of premium whiskeys, each meticulously produced to reflect Hunter’s Kentucky roots and Colorado spirit, led by a bold Bourbon and a complex Rye.
